Description

XPlaneConnector

What is it?

XPlaneConnector is a library .Net Standard and .Net Core compliant that can run on a Raspberry pi hardware that allows to receive data and to send commands to X-Plane flight simulator software. It communicates with the simulation software using UDP datagram, so it can run on a separate computer (even with a different Operating System).

What is it useful for?

XPlaneConnector helps the realization of hardware cockpits and integration of external data visualization such as external monitors.

How to get it?

Come si utilizza?

This library is available on GitHub and NuGet under the name XPlaneConnector

Example usage

  • a Raspberry Pi can detect the states of harware switchs attached to the pinout of the board and use XPlaneConnector to send corresponding commands to the simulator software (such as battery switch, avionic switch, or even dials for increasing/decreasing radio frequency)
  • an external PC can read and show relevant data such as headings, radio frequency, autpilot states or all sort of status labels formatted on a fancy way
  • an external PC can provoke failures in the simulated plane (for example an instructor may want to test the ability of the student to face an engine failure)
